I went kayak fishing with my 10 year old nephew this weekend. I rented him an X13 from OEX in Sunset Beach. We didn't catch anything, but it was really cool to see how well he could handle the kayak. He seemed to have a lot of fun and seemed up for going again. The only problem was I forgot to bring a memory card for my camera!! :( In addition, the camera on my ancient phone doesn't seem to work any more. So no evidence of the trip :( I guess we'll have to go again.
I get a lot of questions about how healthy it is to eat fish caught from the ocean when I'm talking with people about fishing. I've never gotten sick from eating anything from the ocean, however this weekend I did get sick after eating a Famous Star from Carl's Jr!!
Lesson of the day: Maybe the DFG should put out a consumption warning on eating fast food burgers :)
